Legoland

.

About a 1.5 hour drive down Interstate 5 and we were at Legoland California, a much anticipated destination.

.

Legoland is a combination of an extensive array of lego models,  and a series lego-themed rides.  We started with the models.  So much lego; so skillfully assembled.

.

Haaaa!  😀

.

I became almost desensitised to the intricacy and cleverness of all the models, because there were just so many of them.  Being a Lego designer must be such a cool and sought-after job.

.

Las Vegas sign, take two!

.

.

.

And on to the rides!

.

.

.

These guys and rollercoasters.  Once again, Nate wasn’t keen so he and I went on a Bionicles ride.  We finally managed to convince Nate to go on the milder Dragon rollercoaster, and he loved it in spite of himself!

.

This ride ought to be renamed ‘The Stomach Churner’.

.

.

.

It’s Emmett!!

.

… and Wyldstyle!

.

There was a temporary exhibition of the actual basement set that was used in the Lego Movie.  It had been transported down from LA for display at Legoland.

We spent half the day at Legoland, half the day at the waterpark.  The water park had a seriously cool ride called the Pirate Reef.  You ride a boat down a flume into a massive wall of water and get thoroughly drenched.  It was probably our favourite ride as a family.

.

By the end of the day, Erin was actually feeling really unwell.  We suspect the rhythmic motion of the wave pool combined with a Legoland hamburger might have had something to do with it.  She still managed to produce a smile for her Lego Friends peeps.  We stayed until closing time, spent an inordinate amount of time in the Legoland Store, then headed back up the coast, debuting another food outlet on the way – the Flamebroiler.
